Gravel Greece is about the raw, untamed roads that wind through a country few travelers ever reach. Six riding days of demanding terrain, breathtaking mountain passes, and forgotten valleys where ancient landscapes meet pure adventure riding. You’ll spend your days on exposed ridges where the world drops away beneath your wheels — the kind of riding that reminds you what it means to be fully awake, fully present, fully alive.
This is motorcycling stripped to its essence: dusty trails linking remote villages, and coastlines that appear like a reward after hours in the saddle. The real Greece, far past the souvenir shops and the cruise-ship crowds. The road to paradise has never been smooth — that’s exactly what makes it worth riding.

An Off-Road Motorcycle Tour Through the Real Greece
Gravel Greece is a guided off-road motorcycle tour built for riders who want more than a coastal cruise. Over six riding days you’ll cover roughly 1,300 kilometers across mainland Greece — about 70% of it on gravel, dirt, and mountain track — starting and finishing in Athens. This is adventure riding in its truest form: remote, demanding, and unforgettable.
Mountain passes most travelers never see
From the olive groves above Loutraki to the high passes of Mount Giona, the route climbs into terrain that few visitors to Greece ever experience. You’ll ride exposed ridgelines where the land falls away on both sides, technical descents over loose rock, and forest trails that turn to mud after rain. On the fourth day the route reaches around 2,000 meters of altitude, threading between hidden valleys near Lake Plastira that even many Greeks don’t know exist.
From the Pindus mountains to the Peloponnese coast
The tour links some of Greece’s most spectacular and least-traveled regions — Karpenisi and the central Pindus range, the coastline at Nafpaktos, and the wild interior of the Peloponnese peninsula. The final riding day delivers 250km of near-continuous off-road through the Peloponnese before a stop at the Corinth Canal and the return to Loutraki. Every day ends in a 3- or 4-star hotel, with all dinners included, so you ride hard and recover well.
Who this tour is for
This is an intermediate-to-advanced tour. You should be confident standing on the pegs, comfortable on loose surfaces, and able to manage a large adventure bike on steep climbs and descents. You don’t need to race — but you do need genuine off-road experience. Riders typically choose between bringing their own adventure bike or renting a BMW F900GS or R1300GS, both prepared and supported throughout the tour.
Fully supported, small-group riding
We cap every departure at 8 motorcycles. You ride with an experienced guide on the bike alongside you and a certified BMW Motorrad Off-Road Instructor, with a support car carrying your luggage and 24-hour technical backup. That means smaller groups, more personal attention, and the freedom to focus entirely on the riding. If adventure motorcycling in the Balkans and Southern Europe is on your list, Gravel Greece belongs near the top of it.
Day by Day
Day 1 — Athens arrival
Touch down in Athens and leave the chaos behind. We transfer you straight to the hotel where your adventure bike is waiting. Tonight is about rest, bike checks, and the quiet anticipation of what’s coming. Tomorrow the gravel begins and the real Greece reveals itself. Sleep well — you’ll need it.
Day 2 — Loutraki to Itea
First day, first test. 245 kilometers that separate the tourists from the riders. We leave the coast behind, carving through endless olive groves that carpet the hillsides before the terrain turns wilder. By the time we roll into Itea, dust-covered and grinning, you’ll know exactly what kind of tour this is. Welcome to the real ride.
Day 3 — Itea to Karpenisi
Mount Giona doesn’t forgive mistakes. Today we climb into serious altitude, threading mountain passes where the drop-offs test your focus and the views steal what’s left of it. Steep ascents and descents over loose rock demand every ounce of concentration — your line choice matters here. We ride exposed ridgelines where the world falls away on both sides, and finish on an abandoned forest trail. If it rains, we’re riding through mud. Pure, filthy adventure.
Day 4 — Karpenisi to Lake Plastira
We’re going to 2,000 meters today. All off-road, all day, threading between dizzying precipices and hidden valleys most Greeks don’t even know exist. Relentless climbs over jagged stone, technical descents where every rock tests your suspension and skill, ridgeline riding where the exposure is real and the views are infinite. This is pure mountain riding. We finish at Lake Plastira, where the water reflects the day you just conquered.
Day 5 — Lake Plastira to Karpenisi
We return to Karpenisi, but not the way we came. The mountains here are endless, and we’re taking paths so remote even locals have forgotten them. Off-road intensity, breathtaking isolation, and a traditional lunch that reminds you why Greek hospitality is legendary. Karpenisi has never felt so earned.
Day 6 — Karpenisi to Nafpaktos
Straight into the forest after breakfast. Today we tackle one of Greece’s most viciously winding off-road routes — corner after corner, testing your precision and your nerve. We emerge on the coast by evening, where the Mediterranean waits and cold drinks have never tasted better.
Day 7 — Nafpaktos to Peloponnese to Loutraki
The grand finale. 250km through the remote Peloponnese, where the off-road doesn’t ease up until the hotel gate. Rocky ascents, technical descents, knife-edge mountain ridges where one mistake means everything, and single-track that keeps you honest. We pause at the Corinth Canal — a last reminder of engineering versus nature — before closing this chapter in Loutraki, where the journey ends and the stories begin.
Day 8 — Athens departure
Transfer to Athens airport. The bikes are parked, but the dust in your gear and the ache in your muscles tell the real story. Greece is behind you now — but something tells us you’ll be back.
Real Greece, Real Terrain
Six riding days through mountain passes, forgotten valleys, and coastlines most travelers never reach. This is the Greece beyond the postcards — and you ride it on two wheels.
