Not everyone can take two weeks off. A short tour is built around that reality – fly in on a Friday, ride until the following weekend, and be back at your desk without having spent your entire annual leave allowance.
The compromise is geography, not quality. A shorter tour stays in one country rather than crossing five, which means less time covering ground between the good bits and more time on the roads you came for. In Romania that works particularly well, because the best riding in the Carpathians sits within a few hours of each other.
More than most people expect. A six or seven day tour in Romania gives you four or five full riding days once arrival and departure are accounted for, and that is enough to ride the Transfagarasan and the Transalpina, cross the Carpathians properly, and still spend an evening somewhere worth stopping.
If you want off-road, a short tour is arguably the better format – technical riding is tiring, and four hard days of trails will leave you satisfied rather than short-changed.
Riders with limited leave, riders trying a guided tour for the first time before committing to a longer one, and riders who want a second trip in the same season rather than one big one.
It is also the easiest format to combine with something else – a few days in Bucharest or Brasov either side, or a first taste of Romania before booking one of the longer Balkans routes next year.
The same as our longer tours, scaled to the length: hotels with breakfast, dinners including welcome and farewell meals, airport transfers at both ends, an experienced guide, the motorcycle with full insurance, 24-hour technical support and a support van for the luggage.
Maximum eight motorcycles per group, and prices per person with the bike included.
