South Africa

The African Dream

From open roads in the semi-arid desert, to twisty roads along the fertile coast, you experience it all.  Magnificent views, unforgettable African experiences and interesting, diverse roads, combined with motorcycling.. this is our most popular adventure motorcycle route in South Africa, and perfect for couples and less extreme riders.

Starting in Cape Town, we wind our way through breathtaking, world famous coastal routes, and work our way inland.
Crossing spectacular mountain ranges, you explore the true beauty of the Cape from all angles.

After a day’s riding, sit back and relax in the luxury, while you watch the African sunset.  Relive the day with your fellow riders, as you sit around a traditional South African fire, under the stars.  No visit is complete without a game drive (safari) or two, getting close to South Africa’s wildlife.

DAY BY DAY PROGRAM

Day 1:
Morning arrival.  We collect you from the airport and take you to the hotel to check-in and freshen up.  After a quick bite, we head out to Table Mountain.

Day 2:
Riding south along the western side of the Cape Peninsula, via the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive, we travel to the spectacular Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope.  After lunch we head along the coast, towards the Stellenbosch Winelands, where we enjoy South Africa’s finest wines.

Day 3:
Today we go inland via Bainskloof Pass and Mitchell’s Pass, towards Ceres.  We get a taste of the semi-arid Karoo, just before we turn off into the fertile Koo valley, towards the eastern side of the Robertson Wine Route.

Day 4:
Route 62 awaits, but we follow this world famous scenic route, we explore a bit of the Breede River Wine Valley.  We join the R62 after riding the exhilarating Tradouw Pass, as we make our way to the jaw-dropping gorge of Seweweekspoort.

Day 5:
We make our way towards the ostrich capital of South Africa.  Most of our day we spend in and around the sandstone formations of the Swartberg mountain range.  First we ride south, through the gorge of Seweweekspoort again, then north over Swartberg pass, then finally south again via the Meiringspoort.

Day 6:
From the semi-arid to the lush green, we trade the Little Karoo for the Garden Route as we travel down towards the coast via Robinson’s Pass.    For the remainder of the day we follow the coastline of the Indian Ocean, to a hidden jewel of the Tsitsikamma.
We also get to visit an ostrich farm in the morning.

Day 7:
Short riding day, to arrive by lunch time at our destination.  Look forward to our first safari in the afternoon!

Day 8:
Safari and rest day.

Day 9:
The open plains of Camdeboo await!   We make our way inland, towards the 4th oldest town in South Africa.

Day 10:
Once again we leave the Karoo behind, as we carve through the land of open spaces, towards the Garden Route via Outeniqua pass.  We spend the night in the coastal village of Wildnerness.

Day 11:
Today we head westwards towards the Most Southern Tip of Africa, with an optional dirt road ride towards the end of the day.  Our hotel for the night is right on the Indian Ocean.

Day 12:
Lunch in Hermanus, a town famous for its whale watching.  After lunch, we follow a coastal road on the eastern side of False Bay towards Cape Town, probably our most favourite ride of the tour.

Day 13:
Depending on the flight time, you might have time to explore the V&A Waterfront and do some shopping.  Airport transfers will be arranged for you.
